What your first dive looks like
It starts with a safety talk from a certified instructor, who walks you through the kit and hand signals, and shows you how to breathe and move below the surface. Next comes a practice session in shallow water until you feel at ease, followed by a guided sea dive at a depth suited to beginners.
Groups are small and your instructor stays with you the whole time. Expect to glide over rocks, sandy patches and marine life in Malta's remarkably clear water.
What's included and requirements
Theory, practice and all the gear are covered: tank, regulator, BCD, mask, fins and wetsuit. Swimming ability and good general fitness are a must, and some medical conditions may need a doctor's sign-off.
Minimum age, maximum depth and the dive site depend on the centre and the sea that day. Transport, photos and videos aren't included unless your option says so. It's booked online via our partner, and your place is confirmed instantly.
