What to expect from a festival in Malta

Rather than one giant site, Malta's festivals play out as special weeks and headline nights across the island. You'll find multi-day festivals spread over several venues, club festivals with different rooms and music styles on a single ticket, and one-off artist shows that become the event of the month.

To give you an idea, 2026 brought names like Bob Sinclar, CamelPhat, ARTBAT, HUGEL, Steve Aoki, Afrojack, Fatboy Slim and Nina Kraviz to the island. And it isn't all electronic: there were live French rap showcases, an Italian music festival in Floriana and shows by Sfera Ebbasta, Gué and Morad.

Where and when: Isle of MTV and one-of-a-kind venues

The high point of summer is Isle of MTV week, held in July in 2026, when the whole island fills with parties: after-parties at Gianpula, sunset sessions at Café del Mar, pool parties and even a boat party. Gianpula Village in Żebbuġ is the go-to open-air venue for festival nights, with several rooms running at once. At Café del Mar in St Paul's Bay, the sun sets behind St Paul's Islands. Then there are historic stages such as Fort Manoel on Manoel Island and the ditch below Valletta's walls.

The season stretches from spring to September: in 2026 there was a multi-day festival from late April into early May, plus big closing nights in September.

Tips for buying Malta festival tickets

Line-ups are revealed bit by bit and headliners sell out fast, so I'd book as soon as the first batches go on sale, as they're the cheapest. On each event page, check the venue, last-entry time and minimum age (17, with photo ID), because some festivals use more than one location.
